In the forests of Cormanthor, north of Sembia, wild elves farm. Many of them are disappointed in the agreement reached between the Council of Elves and the people of the South centuries ago and are determined to save what is left of the forest at any cost.
Their attacks on trade routes are increasing, so Sembia decides to go to war. As Selgaunt’s sons prepare to fight, the antagonisms between humans and elves also intensify. In the midst of a desperate war, Larajin, a somewhat left-handed but fiery servant of the House of Uskevren, falls, who only recently learned that his mother was a wild elf from Gubancfalva and his father was none other than the prestigious master Thamalon Uskevren. The origins of the girl were not yet known even to members of the House of Uskevren.
The half-blood maid heads to Cormanthor to learn as much as she can about her mother and origin; it also aims to bring peace between Sembia and the Valley. As he prepares to rescue his half-brother, he must also confront his hitherto unknown twin brother. But looking for a better target than him, the enemies of the Uskevren would not find it: dark secrets are hidden by her ancestors. As his heart and blood pull Larajan in two, he must realize that understanding and accepting each other requires superhuman strength and unwavering loyalty.
